7 Ways to Automate ClickUp with Make.com

As a ClickUp expert, I understand how automation can transform your workflow and save precious time. While ClickUp offers powerful native automations, integrating with Make.com can extend these capabilities even further. Let’s explore seven practical ways to automate ClickUp using Make.com.

1. Create and Update ClickUp Task with Custom Fields

One of the fundamental automations with Make.com is creating and updating tasks automatically in ClickUp with custom fields.. You can set up scenarios where webhook can be utilized to create or update tasks in clickup with custom fields.

Once added, you will need to copy the webhook address and add it to an automation within ClickUp to trigger the webhook.

Then in Make.com, add the ClickUp module to “Get a Task”. Provide input.

Next choose ClickUp module “Edit a Task with Custom Fields (Advanced)”. Provide input.

All set to run your automation.

2. Automate Proposals Submission with ClickUp

Make.com excels at connecting different proposal platforms. You can create powerful workflows where proposal journeys can be tracked from tools like PandaDoc, DocuSign etc. in ClickUp. For example, when a proposal gets completed (signed) in your proposal document, Make.com can automatically create a task as a new client in a specified list in ClickUp.

Example:Integrate DocuSign with ClickUp

When an Envelope is completed in DocuSign, create a “New client Kick-off” task in ClickUp.

3. Sum or Average of Custom Field (number/money) from Sub Tasks to Parent Task!

Automate your sub tasks for their custom field as number or money to show sum or average in the parent task.

This automation can help you achieve any of these use cases:

  • Auto sum all ad spent over multiple sub tasks in parent task as Total Cost.
  • Auto add all items in inventory
  • Get average of marks/score calculated.
  • Get average cost of spending each quarter
  • Add further automation to update status according to the results in parent task

Grab this ready to use roll up automation.

4. Connect ClickUp with Slack

Keep your team in sync by setting up Make.com to automatically send ClickUp updates to Slack. When tasks change status, get assigned, or hit milestones, Make.com will instantly notify relevant team members through Slack channels or direct messages. This means no more manual status updates or constantly checking ClickUp – your team gets the information they need, when they need it, right where they’re already communicating.

  • When tasks move to “Ready for Review”
  • New task assignments
  • Approaching deadlines
  • Task completion
  • Priority changes
  • Comments requiring attention

This simple automation helps reduce communication gaps and keeps everyone aligned without adding extra steps to your workflow.

5. Automate Payments Workflow

Transform your billing process by connecting ClickUp and QuickBooks through Make.com. Instead of manually creating invoices when tasks are done, let Make.com handle it automatically. When your team marks tasks as complete in ClickUp, Make.com can instantly generate and send the corresponding invoice in QuickBooks.

You could customize this automation to:

  • Create invoices based on completed billable hours
  • Generate invoices when project milestones are reached
  • Send automated payment reminders
  • Update ClickUp when payments are received
  • Track billable vs non-billable time

6. Connect Your LinkedIn to ClickUp

Let me share how we’ve been leveraging ClickUp and
LinkedIn automation in our daily workflow at IT Visionists. It’s fascinating how a simple connection through Make.com has transformed our social media management process.

Think about those moments when your team completes a major milestone or launches a new feature. Instead of switching between platforms and manually crafting LinkedIn posts, your ClickUp workflow can seamlessly share these achievements. When your team marks a launch task as complete, it can automatically create a text post, an image or video right from your company page.

What I love most about this setup is its versatility. Whether you’re sharing quick company updates, showcasing visual content, or posting video announcements, it all starts from your familiar ClickUp workspace. Your content team can focus on creating great content while the automation handles the publishing part.

While LinkedIn can feed company updates back into ClickUp, the real power lies in using ClickUp as your command center for LinkedIn communications. It’s helped us maintain a consistent social media presence without adding extra steps to our team’s workflow.

It’s not just about automation – it’s about giving your team the freedom to focus on what they do best while ensuring your LinkedIn presence stays active and engaging. The time we’ve gotten back from eliminating manual posting has been invaluable for focusing on strategy and content quality.

7. Automated Task Management

Managing tasks in ClickUp becomes truly effortless when we let automation handle the routine updates and tracking. With Make.com connecting to your ClickUp workspace, task monitoring becomes dynamic and responsive.

Picture this: your tasks quietly update themselves based on your team’s progress, detailed information flows exactly where it needs to go, and task updates happen automatically based on your custom rules. We’ve seen teams transform their daily operations with these automated task flows, cutting down on manual updates and eliminating the risk of missed tasks.

What’s particularly powerful is how this automation adapts to your unique workflow. Whether you’re tracking project milestones, managing client deliverables, or coordinating team assignments, the automation keeps everything in sync without constant manual oversight.

This isn’t just about saving time – it’s about creating a more reliable and efficient task management system that lets your team focus on what truly matters: delivering great work.
